Adoption Process
At Ruff Love Rescue, we want to ensure our dogs have the best chance of a successful forever home. Many come from undesirable past situations, and it is our intent that they are placed in homes that will give them the true happiness they deserve. Before submitting an application (link found at the bottom of this page) to adopt one of our dogs, please note the following:
We adopt only indoor pets who are to be considered part of your family. We will not adopt our dogs to anyone intending to keep them outdoors.
A fenced yard is not required for all dogs. However, some dogs have special needs that do require a fenced in yard. Our adoption coordinator will communicate those needs upon receiving your application if it is not already stated on their profile page.
Our adoption fee includes spay/neuter, rabies, heartworm testing, all required vaccinations and microchip. Adoption fees vary by dog so please check out their profile page for more information regarding this.
Once you submit your online application, you will receive notification that it was received. Please allow at least 3-5 business days for the approval process to be completed. We will contact your vet, personal, and family references. It will help the process if you inform them of this and approve any exchange of information that may be needed (this applies more for vet references). Any dogs/pets already in the home must be current on required vaccinations, rabies, on heartworm preventative (dogs), and spayed/neutered.
After your application has been approved, you will be contacted to set up a meeting with the potential dog(s) you wish to adopt, if this has not already been done. We do complete a home visit to ensure our dogs are being adopted into a safe environment, so this will be scheduled as well. Sometimes the meet and greet can be scheduled at the same time we do the home visit.
The final step is a 10 day home trial to ensure that the adoption match really is the right fit for all parties involved.
